Technologies for Development

Lack of access to basic services, like clean water, sanitation, and electricity, is linked with poor health, educational, and economic outcomes. Researchers all over the world have proposed both small-scale and large-scale solutions to meet basic service needs in resource-constrained countries, however, fewer researchers study whether these technology interventions really work for the people they are intended to serve. Our work uses econometric and experimental methods to evaluate the impact of various technologies for basic service delivery, such as improved toilets and solar lights, and to better understand the adoption and usage patterns of these new technologies and services.
