Sarah Vogelsanger
Staff of Professorship for Development Economics

Sarah joined the ETH Chair of Development Economics as a research assistant in January 2025. Supporting the team in a variety of tasks, she will be working on literature reviews, data collection, and writing policy briefs. Her interests lie in understanding gender inequality in different contexts, and she values transboundary, artistic, and decolonial methodological approaches to research.
Her academic journey began at the University of Zurich, where she completed a bachelor’s degree in Geography, Economics and Agricultural Economics. During her studies, she worked as a research assistant at the Economic Geography Department of the University of Zurich and at the Agricultural Economics and Policy Group (AECP) of ETH. Driven by the desire to learn more about the relationship between development, societies, and the environment, she then pursued a master’s degree in Environment, Politics and Development at SOAS University in London.
Next to academia, she has experience working with the United Nations Environment Program, Cuisine Sans Frontiers, Wonder Foundation, and Women for Refugee Women.
