Jan is a PhD student at the ETH Chair of Development Economics since September 2024. His research focuses on policies that promote socio-economic development in Global Value Chains (GVCs).
Prior to starting his PhD, Jan worked as a research assistant at the University of St. Gallen, where he was involved in projects on index-based livestock insurance (IBLI) in Kenya and the tracking of global mine activities through machine learning. He previously also worked at the State Secretariat of Economic Affairs (SECO) in Bern and the economic think tank Avenir Suisse in Zurich.
Jan holds an MSc in Economics and Policy from King's College London, and a BA in Business and Economics from the University of Zurich.
